Working Antique Sawmill

Paul A. Burnham’s Sawmill – A Working Exhibit

Paul’s sawmill is powered by a Rolls Royce engine. It is a 4 cylinder diesel, 100 horsepower, made in the late 1950s or early 1960s. It was made to be a power unit specifically for uses like our sawmill.

The Chase Sawmill boasts a 50″ saw blade and was made in Orange, Massachusetts probably in the 1920s.

Many in the area frequented Paul’s sawmill to have work done or just sit awhile with him and catch up on local news. His sons donated the sawmill to the Dublin Gas Engine Meet in 2019 as a permanent fixture for the event.

Paul A. Burnham of Dublin, NH

Paul was a mechanic who had worked for Gilman’s Garage, Clukay Automotive and Hayes Motor Sales for many years before starting his own sawmill. He processed lumber at his sawmill and drove his log truck until age 75.

Paul was a member of the Dublin Gas Engine Meet for many years. He passed in 2017 at the age of 91 and was one of the nicest guys you’d ever want to meet. Paul loved meeting new people at antique tractor shows, the Dublin Gas Engine Meet and at yard sales. He was a humorous story teller.
